FREE Angry Toilet Paper Roll Crochet Pattern
So… 2020 was a pretty tough year for all of us. Amongst the craziness was the supreme hoarding of toilet paper since everyone was panicking about not having enough. To commemorate this crappy year (excuse me), I wanted to bring a little relief to others with sharing this super quick crochet pattern.
During the month of December ’20, I hosted a free CAL (crochet along) through my Insta and had prizes to spread some joy! There were 5 categories that people could enter and win – largest, smallest, most made, most scenic, and random. I was amazed at the turnout and it made me happy knowing that so many people had a good laugh at this pattern from a novice designer like me.
Since then, my pattern writing has really taken off and I’ve improved my photo taking/pattern formats. For now, I’m focusing my energy on the new patterns I write going forward but hopefully I can revisit this Angry TP Roll pattern and give it a makeover in the future.
Note: Please do not copy/redistribute any part of this pattern as your own. Feel free to sell your finished products – I only ask that you give credit to help support my work :). I would also love for you to share photos of your cute creations made with my pattern by tagging me on Instagram @curiouspapaya. Thank you!
-medium worsted yarn in white and tan
-size 3.75 hook
-yarn needle, hot glue, scissors
-HDC (half double crochet)
TOILET PAPER (in white yarn):
ROW 1: CH 61. Starting from the second CH from the hook, HDC all the way down the row.
ROW 2-10: CH 1, turn. HDC all the way down the row. (9 rows total)
Fasten off and leave a short tail to weave in.
ROLL (in tan yarn):
ROW 1: CH 26. Starting from the second CH from the hook, HDC all the way down the row.
ROW 2-12: CH 1, turn. HDC all the way down the row. (11 rows total)
Leave a long tail for sewing and fasten off. Using your yarn needle, sew row 12 to row 1, creating a tube.
STEP 1: Right now, your tube is looking like a churro! Flip the two outer edges inwards towards the middle to create more structure. The roll should be the width of the toilet paper.
STEP 2: Coat the tube with hot glue and wrap the toilet paper around it. Alternatively, you can glue only the edge of the toilet paper onto the roll so that the empty roll shows!
STEP 3: Cut out two ovals for the eyes and three skinny rectangles for the brows /mouth out of black felt and glue the face on. (We don’t want embroidery thread or safety eyes to show through when we unroll the toilet paper which is why we won’t be using them).
STEP 4: Tie ornament string around the tube. Hide the knot in the inside of the roll.
That’s that! Your Angry TP Roll is finished. Hope you enjoy the unrolling action! Let’s hope there never has to be a TP shortage again.
