CHEEKS (make two in pink yarn):

Rnd 1: Make a magic circle and (sc) x 6 [6]

Fasten off using the invisible finish. Leave a short tail since we'll be gluing these onto the head.

TAIL v. 1 (make two pieces; start in brown yarn):

*Note: v. 2 is the updated tail as of Oct 1, 2024. Please see part 2 of the pattern for those steps! The v. 1 instructions for the tail are what make this pattern level intermediate. Please read through everything first to better understand how it's constructed. We will create two halves of the tail and sc them together.

Row 1: Make a slipknot and ch 6. Starting in the second ch from the hook, sc down the row. Ch 1, turn. [5]

Rows 2-3 (2 rows total): sc down the row. Ch 1, turn. [5]

Now we will work on the first jagged edge of the tail.

Row 4: Sc into the next 4 sts. *(On the fourth st, pull through the yellow yarn for a color change). Skip the last st. Ch 1, turn. [4]

Cut off the brown yarn and leave a short tail. I recommend leaving it loose since we will weave it in later instead of carrying over the color. [img 1]

Carry over the yellow yarn tail from joining the color as you work the next row.

Row 5: Sc into the next 4 sts. Then, make 3 sc around the yellow tail we are carrying over. Ch 1, turn. [7] [img 2]

Row 6: Sc down the row. Ch 1, turn. [7]

Row 7: Sc into the next 7 sts. Ch 3. Ch 1, turn. [10] [img 3]
