Hello! Below are the modifications you can make with my Giant Cat crochet pattern. Since it is the very last addition to the Giant Pillow Plushies series, I wanted to go extra big!
I experimented with a variety of chunky yarns to offer a variety of options to those wanting to make these modifications.
Please note that you will need the base pattern as the modification notes are meant to serve as an add-on. Only the materials that differ will be listed. Lastly, if any future modifications are made, you can find them on this post.
Siamese Cat

Different Materials:

#6 Super Bulky Yarn - Demi Purl
- 1 skein of Deep Mahogany (dark brown) - 80 g
- 1 skein of Whitecap Gray (cream) - 244 g

#6 Super Bulky Yarn - Parfait Chunky
- 12 in. [~30.5 cm] of Light Blue (for the outer eyes)
- 12 in. [~30.5 cm] of Light Blue (for the outer eyes)
- 7 mm hook
Modification Notes:
- Size: 11.5 in. x 9.5 in. [~29 cm x ~24 cm]
- Work the first 5 rnds in dark brown yarn
- Change to cream yarn for the rest of the body
- Make the ears, legs, and tail in dark brown yarn
- Embroider the outer eyes with light blue yarn

Note: This was made with two yarns held together to create a larger plushie. You can purchase 1 skein and use a yarn winder to create two cakes to work from - or, order two skeins.

#6 Super Bulky Yarn - Bernat Blanket
- 1 skein of Country Blue (light blue) - 280 g
- 2 skeins of White - 315 g
- 1 skein of Red - 10 g

#3 Light Worsted Yarn - Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8
- 1 skein of Charcoal (123) (dark gray) - 8 g
- 1 skein of Sunflower (24) (yellow) - 4 g
- 9 mm hook, 2.75 mm hook
Modification Notes:
- Size: 14 in. x 13 in. [~36 cm x ~33 cm]
- Work the first 10 rnds in white yarn
- Change to blue yarn for rnd 11
- rnd 11a: (blo) - LOOSELY slst all around
- rnd 11b: (blo) - sc all around
- Continue the rest of the body in blue yarn
- Make the ears, legs, in White yarn
- Skip the tail

Facial Features: Use a 2.75 mm hook for the facial features + cotton yarn

Eyes (in dark gray yarn):
- rnd 1: make a magic circle and (sc) x6 [6]
- rnd 2: (2 sc, inc) x2 [8]
- Use the invisible finish and leave a tail for sewing.
- Sew the eyes on along the inner perimeter on rnd 1, 11 sts apart .

Nose (in yellow yarn):
- rnd 1: make a slipknot and ch 4, starting from the second ch from the hook, sc into the next 2 ch, make 3 sc into the next ch, turn and work along the bottom of the ch, sc into the next ch, inc into last ch and slst into the first st of the rnd [8]
- rnd 2: (sc, 3 inc), repeat [14]
- Use the invisible finish and leave a tail for sewing.
- Sew the nose on along the inner perimeter on rnd 1, centered between the eyes.

Whiskers
- Step 1: Cut 18 in. [~46 cm] of dark gray yarn.
- Step 2: Mark the position of the 3 whiskers using sewing pins. They should span rnds 4-5, 1 st apart.
- Use the darning needle and weave into the side of the face, leaving a 3 in. [~8 cm] tail.
- Step 3: Embroider three whiskers on each side.
- Step 4: Weave out where you entered in from and secure the yarn tails into a knot.
- Step 5: Weave in the remaining yarn tails.

Eyes (in dark gray yarn):

Red Bow: Use a 9 mm hook + red blanket yarn with two yarns held together.

Step 1: Make a magic circle.

Step 2: (ch 3, make 3 dc into the circle, ch 3, slst into the center of the circle). This will make one side of the bow.

Step 3: Pull the circle a little tighter and work the other side of the bow.

Step 4: Repeat the directions in step 2.

Step 5: Fasten off and leave 12 in. [~30 cm] of the yarn tail.

Step 6: Wrap the yarn tails one at a time around the center tightly 4x.

Step 7: Secure the yarn tails into a knot.

Step 8: Sew it onto the cat's left year.

Cocoa Cat

Different Materials:

#6 Super Bulky Yarn - Chenille Basix
- 2 skeins of Black - 290 g
- 1 skein of Steel Cut Oats (tan) - 6 g

#3 Light Worsted Yarn - Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8
- 1 skein of White (001) - 10 g
- 1 skein of Light Brown (006)- 2 g
- 7 mm hook, 2.75 mm hook
Modification Notes:
- Size: 9.5 in. x 9 in. [~24 cm x ~23 cm]
- Work the entire body in black yarn
- Use tan yarn instead of pink for the inner ears

Before sewing the body, insert the safety eyes into the eye whites and secure the backings in.

Facial Features: Use a 2.75 mm hook for the facial features + cotton yarn

Eyes (in white yarn):
- rnd 1: make a magic circle and (sc) x6 [6]
- rnd 2: (inc) x6 [12]

rnd 3: (sc, inc) x6 [18]
- rnd 4: (sc, inc, sc) x6 [24]
- rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x6 [30]
- Use the invisible finish and leave a tail for sewing.
- Insert safety eyes between rnds 3-4 and secure the backings onto the inside of the cat head/body.
- Sew the eyes on along the inner perimeter spanning rnds 1-4 of the head, 6 sts apart.

Nose (in dark brown yarn):
- rnd 1: make a magic circle and (sc) x6 [6]
- rnd 2: (2 sc, inc) x2 [8]
- Use the invisible finish and leave a tail for sewing.
- Center the nose with the eys, 1 rnd below the pupils. Sew it on along the inner perimeter.
