SANTA HAT
Start in Red yarn
*Note: Leave a long tail before beginning rnd 1. We will need it to secure down the hat bend.
Rnd 1: make a magic circle and ch 2 (counts as your first st), 4 hdc [5]
Rnd 2: (hdc-inc) x5 [10]
Rnd 3: hdc all around [10]
Rnd 4: (hdc, hdc-inc) x5 [15]
Rnd 5: hdc all around [15]
Rnd 6: (2 hdc, hdc-inc) x5 [20]
Rnd 7: hdc all around [20]
Rnd 8: (3 sc, inc) x3 [25]
Rnd 9: hdc all around [25]
Rnd 10: 24 hdc, sc [25]
Use the invisible finish and weave in the ends.
Next, we will make the brim. Join White yarn.
Rnd 11: ch 2 (counts as your first st), hdc all around, slst into the first st to join the rnd. [25]
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing to the head.
ASSEMBLY
Step 1: To create the bend in the hat, weave the yarn tail we left at the beginning of the magic circle out 2 rnds below. [img]
Step 2: Weave down 5 rnds below into the inside of the hat. [img]
Step 3: Weave over the same spot 3x to secure the shape of the hat down.
Step 4: Weave out to where you joined the White yarn for the brim and secure the yarn tail into a knot.
Step 5: Secure the white pom pom onto the tip of the hat. [img]
Step 6: Sew the hat onto the Pokéchub head at a tilted angle for a cuter look.
For the heads, I used the heads of my free Pokéchub patterns here on my blog.
You can also follow along the full Youtube tutorials where I demonstrate how to make it with chenille yarn.
You’re finished!
